The major issue is that all of the news outlets are doing little more than spreading fear and misinformation. Ignorant people then panicking about it and spreading even more info that they read on tinfoil hat websites doesn't help either. I wish there was a way to force people to research...that would solve a lot of problems in many areas hehehe.
