I majored in non-violent philosophy in college.  Could passive resistence
have over-powered Hitler?   Honestly, there's no way to know.  That said - I
certainly think it could have.  Of course, it would have come at a terrible
price.  What did Gandhi think?  He believed that Nazism was an evil, but he
did not condone war.  There's just too much to say about this.  I will say
that while I do believe VERY strongly that nonviolent resistence and civil
disobedience can achieve any goal, violence in extreme scenarios is
obviously warranted.
