There are more healing potions, because there is a LOT more fighting than in mmost DnD campaigns.
You would also notice that you only get about 10% of the XP you should get for each monster type. This is again due to the frequency of combat encounters. This was due to game balancing for the computer as opposed to a PnP campaign where most players WANT a lot of combat on the computer. :) Also, you can cheat very easily in most computer games. Quake? Doom? Red Faction? Medal of Honour? Jedi Knight? Freedom Force?....
