I took your meaning to be that the killing had to be done within the law, so
it wasn't murder

If that is so i partially agree, but only if the laws in place protect the
child at risk.  If the laws don't protect children, then as far as i'm
concerned they still need to be protected and if murder is the only way to
protect children from such people, then I would advocate it.  But then I am
extrememly biased since I have 2 young children.
