Our parking enforcement is all about making money for the city, not enforcing parking laws.
- They create parking signs that are purposely confusing. For instance: "No parking east side of street between the hours of 6AM - 10AM and 4PM - 7PM between Nov. 1 - March 1 when 2 inches of snow are present." And they'll put that on the west side of the street 4 blocks down from where you parked. - They do surprise street cleaning notices where they'll stamp little orange signs on trees 3 days before they come through. The thing is, the street cleaner will only sometimes come through that area, the parking cop will ALWAYS come through. Whether they really clean the street or not - you'll still get a ticket. - People here are silly. When it snows and everyone's car gets covered in 10 feet of snow from the plows - they'll dig their car out and then put chairs and other junk in their spot to save it for when they get home. If you take their spot, expect to have slashed tires and broken windows when you get back to your car. Needless to say, there is nowhere to park in the winter here. - Our parking enforcement isn't called "Parking Enforcement", it's called "The Department of Revenue". Hey, at least they're honest about it. It really sucks for people that have cars, but now that I don't have one I think it's pretty kewl :) Adam. ps. I almost got my ass kicked by a tow truck driver once for calling him a leach. I guess that's a sensitive name for people in that profession - ooops. > -----Original Message----- > From: William Wheatley [mailto:bill@;ediets.com] > Sent: Friday, November 15, 2002 3:26 PM > To: CF-Community > Subject: Re: Gun Company Must Pay Teacher's Widow > > > DUDE wtf are you doign getting all those parking tickets ;) > DONT illegally > park lol > i hate people that park illegaly i am glad they give them al > tickets ;) i > just wish they would ticket people > who pull up in front of a store and park and block traffic the aholes > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Cantrell, Adam" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: "CF-Community" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Sent: Friday, November 15, 2002 3:59 PM > Subject: RE: Gun Company Must Pay Teacher's Widow > > > > Expenses for owning a car that ticked me off: > > > > - car payment > > - insurance payment > > - gas > > - oil changes > > - general maintenance (brakes, tires, fluids - huh huh, he > said fluids) > > - license plates > > - license plate stickers > > - city tax stickers > > - emission tests > > - speeding tickets (this was optional) > > - parking tickets (this was optional - paid over $2000 in > parking tickets > in > > 3 years) > > - towing fees (this was optional - paid over $400 in towing > fees in 3 > years) > > - the 'boot' (this was optional -booted at least 3 times - > $80 a pop) > > - parking ($12 an hour in some cases) > > - expressway tolls > > - time (traffic) > > > > Not only am I not responsible enough to be able to worry > about all that, > but > > the money is being put towards better outlets (video games > and beer).
