In any case I've nearly needed stitches after trimming her nails... No
way am I going to try piercing.

However, on the topic of animals not having a choice we did have her
spayed (required in MA if getting a pet from a shelter) and declawed.
I'll live with the shedding however... Right now she's a actually a
pretty good looking mean, nasty cat.  A freakish, naked, gorgoyle
looking mean, nasty cat would just push things over the edge.
