I decided to resend this since I didn't see the original come through. Also it gave me a chance to edit the original a bit.
BTW did anyone see that Islamic extremists are claiming responsibility for the slammer worm? Preface: I do not speak for our government. I am a programmer and nothing more. These are not the opinions of the United States government. Do not quote this as a government source, because I don't even work for the government, I am a contractor. Well I think that we could expect an extended amount of "nation building" say 10 - 20 years. During which time we would have to deal with Baath party terrorists, Islamic extremists, and communists. Also you could expect to see a popular Islamic uprising in Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Now you could see some very positive changes take place in both Iran and in Pakistan. In Iran the same students that went into the streets for Khomeini are now in the streets against the sharia based government that he set up. Pakistan could see positive change on being scared by or invasion of Iraq. Some of their officials have already expressed fears that if they do not clean up their own backyard, they could see foreign troops next. India will continue to have problems in Kashmir, and lets not forget about Burma and the Marxists. I think you would see a general rise in terror and crime throughout the world. Generally when US troops are at war this occurs, the bad guys know that we are spread thin, and actively engaged so they try to get away with more. As always Africa is a big problem. You have some Islamic movements taking root there. Still you have tribal conflicts raging that go back hundreds of years. There has also been a rise in white militancy in S Africa. This could expand if the US is felt to be unable to react to assist the countries involved. In south east Asia there is a huge Islamic movement. Many countries there are actively engaged in counter insurgency operations. Having US and British forces tied up in the gulf could allow some of these movements to gain some ground. In our hemisphere we have seen a lot of action in South and Central America lately. The strikes in Venezuela, the far left elections in many countries, and the rebel activities in Mexico and Colombia would be very troublesome. Hehe, sounds like a lot of fun for the next few years huh? Tim -----Original Message----- From: Larry C.
