I wouldn't say paranoid. At home, aside from the Cable/DSL Router with a 
NAT, each machine, including the iBook, has a firewall, and the wireless 
access point uses 256 bit WEP and accepts only the iBook's MAC address. Not 
too secure but possibly barely adequately secure.
