You are bringing back memories of Mom making us kids take those awful
tasting
Cod Liver Oil doses. (before they were packaged in capsules)  Fish oils
=
essential fatty acids
Even my Veterinarian prescribes these for my dogs!

| Best evidence is a traditional Inuit village up north. Their diets are
| high in fat, protein and essential fatty acids. Extremely low rates of
| depression, heart disease etc. There are recent studies coming out
that
| indicate ADHD type symptoms is only the tip of the icerberg in regards
| to fatty acid deficiency/imbalance...There are suggestions being made
| that supplementation in these areas can have very positive effects on
| folks with chronic depression as well...Course there's no perfect
cookie
| cutter solution that will solve the worlds problems...but I believe
| there are very real root causes for may conditions.

| You are right on. A very im portant recent revelation is now added to
the
| misuse
| of sugars in the diet, and that is the epidemic of diabetes which is
| just now
| gaining attention.  Especially here is San Antonio, where the
incidence
| is
| supposed to be the highest in the nation.
|
| Contributory -  Imbalance of complex carbs, saturated fats and low
| quality
| protein, such as fast foods, and most "convenience foods."  It appears
| the
| parents are dooming their children due to dietary practices.

|
| | Regardless of the type of sugar....the important measurement is the
| | carbohydrates rating on the glycemic index...where pure glucose is
at
| | 100 (baseline). The higher the food is on the glycemic index, the
| faster
| | it enteres your blood stream which leads to a whole bunch of
| | issues...especially long term. Mark my words...in a few years the
| | marketing on products will not be low fat...they'll have a big shiny
| | star on the front of the box that is an overall glyc! emic rating
for
| food
| | ABC and XYZ.
| |
| |
| |!
| | As for ADHD drugs. Ritalin has the EXACT same effect on the brai n
as
| | cocaine. In fact there are issues of kids re-selling Ritalin for
| | inhalation.
