| Are these contracts really payed by US taxpayers? What happened to the idea
that Iraq was somehow going to pay the money back?

That idea was sacked long ago. The only coalition members left that are allied
with us are the ones that were bought with billions in our AID in the balance.
France, Germany and Russia were the beneficiaries of large contracts and trade
with the old Iraqi regime, selling them arms, munitions, and buying their
illegally produced oil in violation of the "Oil for Food" sanctions by the UN.
That the US contractors are beneficiaries of the US largesse is due to the Bush
agenda of taking care of his friends and financial supporters. You can see this
in the Medicare "reform" law, Tax cuts for the rich, Homeland Security, etc.
Bush has never wavered from his committrment to his "friends"
