US companies working in Iraq will bolster the economy
Huh? They are taking money OUT of the economy. The money comes from the economy in the form of higher taxes. That tax money should hav ebeen left in peoples pockets. If not, it should have been spent in the US. All the money spent on US companies in Iraq does not stay in the US. They pay local companies for goods and services. That helps the Iraqi economy. It does nothing for the American economy.
If we wanted to help the American economy, we should be rebuilding Philidelphia. And Des Moines. Then the American companies would be employing American workers (because it is hard to send construction jobs to India) and buying local products.
Which would actually be good for the American economy. Both short term with jobs and long term with improved infrastructure.
