Hehe I'll do everyone a favor so they won't have to guess!  I like to think I am a nice guy, but can be very clumsy/naive/ignorant, but always look forward to progress.  I also like to say ANYTHING for the sake of humour (as long as I am comfortable with the parties present, and have a feeling that everyone else will find it humorous).  In fact, we've talked about sooooo many things in this list, from sex to whatever, I feel very comfortable! Sometimes I get into trouble for it, but I learn from my mistakes.  I like to joke around!  I hang around alot of people who are very non-PC, and it only feeds my fire.  Like my boss is Mexican and we make "racist" jokes about each other at convenient times, and we have a hilarious time.  And a while ago I made a post to the Power Tools thread....."That is so degrading to women!  And I like it!"  Now I don't really mean that (well, maybe half.9998), but I think it would give you guys a chuckle when you read it.  Enough about me!

"Your belief

derogatory term is a good example of privilege run amuck"

I wouldn't go as far as calling it a notion of privilege.  Words lose their meanings and new words are created all the time.  This goes the same for cultural things.  Like most blacks i know use the word "nigger" copiously.  It was/is a degrading term, but I dare you to go to one of them and tell them they can't use it amongst each other.  And in fact, it's become so popular, I even use it amongst my non-black friends.  So first it was derogatory, then it became something unique among some.most (i dont know the stats) blacks, now it's a buddy term - where i live anyways.

There is some truth to what u said.  I do feel I am in the majority position....but it is not that i feel ENTITLED to use it.  It's that I feel that everyone is cool with it, even some gay people.  I just have to deal with the fussy ones ;)

Of course, I will respect and honor reasonable requests.  :D

There's this notion of privilege. You may have heard of it. Essentially,
it's the idea that people in the majority class are so accustomed to the
privileges that they have that they're not even aware of them. Your belief
that copious use of a derogatory term turns it into anything other than a
derogatory term is a good example of privilege run amuck. Because you're in
the majority position (where the term holds little emotional weight) you
feel entitled to use it. Those in the minority position (where the term is
  quite caustic) would disagree.

So, yes, I find your use of the term offensive and would prefer that you not
use it on the list. However, since this is a free country and all, I can't
really stop you from using it. I can, however, form opinions about your
character based on the words you choose to use.
