What do you mean by "personal" DVD? Are they of home videos that you shot
yourself? If they are, then you should have the source files. If they are
commercial DVDs that you are claiming you are allowed to make a backup copy
of, then the circumvention of the encryption is a violation of DMCA. The
backup copy loophole doesn't apply. At least that's the position of the DMCA
and the MPAA.
I don't care if you're doing it, but by doing that you are not fighting with
your pocketbook, you are not using economic forces, you are resorting to
"illegal" tactics to circumvent the issue.
Like I said, I don't have any issue with what you are doing, but your
actions are not in line with your stated beliefs.
