While I know you're referring to the original Michael in this thread, I feel
compelled to reply, as an employer myself.

1. Those who flat out copy other designs, whether it be a corporate website,
or a simple resume, indicate to an employer like myself that:

a. they lack creativitiy
b. they lack integrity (asking permission before ripping off an idea would
indicate this person has some decency)
c. they lack the ability to problem solve on thier own

Ray's response to the allegations of Michael getting ripped off were even
more telling:

"how many possible ways can you display contact info?"

Certainly there isn't just 1 way - that response displays lack of problem
solving.

"I look at hundreds of web sites each week, and make mental notes of what I
like and dislike. I just compare the sites as you suggested, and they are
very similar. Therefore, I most of like your site when I saw it."

So Ray liked Michael's site so much when he saw it, that he committed it to
memory, remembering details like font choice, color values, content
location, etc? To me that indicates dishonesty, lack of personal
responsibility to ones actions.

Considering the circumstances, I think Michael handled himself very well,
and should not be looked down upon for not wanting his site ripped off. You
might be flattered, Michael is not, and by law, has a right to be upset and
take action if needed.

WOW!
Michael dont you think that is a bit getting carried away?
Instead of being mad he used your design why not say WOW I am very greatful
that you would use my code as your own. Do you really think just the look of
your resumes will be what sways an EMPLOYER? Looking at it from my point, if
i was looking for new developers (Which i'm not at the moment but will be in
a few months) then i would certainly take 1 look at your pissed off post and
say do i want someone like that working for my company? And it will
immediately put a negative on the list of Pros and Cons. If it was my design
personally i would be honored to have it used. BUT now if it was a WEbsite
design or something for business thats a different story but for a resume i
think its getting a little carried away.

Just relax and know that if you are qualified you can be happy and know you
will get the job. Just my thoughts as an employer and also as a fellow
developer.
