I do not want to start a debate about which operating system is better.
I do want to start a debate to determine whether or not Cold Fusion performs
better on one platform than another.
I have 2 very powerful solaris boxes running a Cold Fusion powered site that
just totally suck. They are dying under a very tiny load.
I have run Cold Fusion on NT boxes and although it does suck under load it
seems like it perhaps is more efficient on NT than Unix.
I'm already load balancing the web site across multiple servers. What I am
thinking is that for the same money I spent on two large Sun boxes I could
buy MANY NT boxes.
The other thing I really want to try is to put a load tester on a Unix based
CF Server and on an NT one. I have a feeling that a $5k NT server can handle
as much traffic as a $30k Sun server because Cold Fusion runs so badly on
Unix.
This is all theoretical and I would like to know if anyone else has tested
this or if anyone has come to a similar conclusion?
