It depends on the email that sent the spam.  It also depends on if it
looks like they are using a shotgun to hit emails.  A lot of times I
will see in the TO:  [EMAIL PROTECTED], [EMAIL PROTECTED], mike... etc...
like they are just guessing.

I just forward the spam to abuse emails if they come from yahoo, msn,
etc
