Yeah, I got that impression too.  That we are seeing the first blush of 
a more robust semi-automatic update system for CF.

I have no explicit knowledge of this, just a feeling.

Mac OS X has a semi-automatic update system that like, because i can 
control it or turn it off entirely.

OpenBase has one that I don't like -- it makes an automatic connection 
that I can't prevent except by disconnecting from the internet.

One thing I really like about the CF updater is the ability too 
uninstall -- it remains to be seen if this is retained in a 
semi-automatic update.

One thing, I don't like is that the CF updater "covers its tracks" and 
wipes out all the temp files -- sure it logs what it is doing -- but 
does it log *everything* ?  (this may happen because that's just the 
way the "installAnywhere" program (that CF uses) works.

I think that this issue requires a lot of careful consideration -- 
installation and update are two very different processes with very 
different ramifications.

Interesting to see what develops.
