Believe it or not, this solution is the right solution for them--tried
and true measures and "the way they use it" dictate that it works this
way, but I'll still (sort of) agree with you.

I think it depends upon which side of the fence you sit on--dev or
usability--and in this instance, I'm straddling it.

I think I just landed all scissor-style right in the middle, too. heh
