If it happens it happens, being a developer I'll use whatever tool's I'm told to use either by Clients or the company I work for at the time.
As for if MS buys MM personally I can see it happening, based on the aqusitions its made over the years, and also the fact that the only tools MS have for web design are Front Page and ASP.Net, and they arnt the easiest to use.
