Funny, I was under the impression the stock market was about stock. If I am not mistaken when you buy stock you are buying a piece of the company - therefore, you are saying "I like what this company is doing I am going to give them money so they can do what they are doing some more." - weather you mean to or not.
It has become a Las Vegas type institution where most don't care where their "vote" is going, but it goes none-the-less.
