You should not require a third party application. The ODBC driver supports
encryption, secure connections, as well as supporting using a unique port number
to get away from the port 443 probes.

Subject: secure remote db access

| Hi,
| A client of mine has need to securely connect to a remote SQL
| Server database from a set of ColdFusion 5.0 applications. VPN is
| not an option.
|
| Can anyone suggest some alternatives? Is there a way to invoke a
| secure (i.e. encrypted) connection via ODBC? Any recommended
| third-party solutions?
|
| TIA,
| Dave Jones
