You might be able to do it by CFExecuting an OSA script:

Here's some info on the Mac using AppleScript (Apple's OSA scripting
language).

It says you can create and edit slides!

Since MS put the hooks into PowerPoint, I assume they have an OSA
scripting facility that can exploit them.
