When OSX was just a gleam in Apple's OS team, there was a project underway to develop a version of the Mac OS for intel systems in the early 90's - this was when Apple was under Spindler and Amelio as CEO's. I attended a couple of Macworlds where they demo'd the product. It worked, but the hardware requirements were pretty stiff. It was one of the products that was killed towards the end of Gil Amelio's term as CEO.
