I agree with Dov. that's exactly how I did mine as well for my former employers... we had to send out over 22K invites and I batched them over a period of 2 to 3 weeks. I used a combination of tables and scheduling functions to keep track of what has and not been sent out. Be careful too with the spooling and don't do too much.
