Well, I've have to speak up here and voice my satisfaction with
SeeFusion. I had already been using SeeFusion 3.3 and I helped Beta test
SeeFusion 4 and I really-really liked it. I think WebApper has brought
their UI up to speed with Flex 2.0. And with Free dot releases, I'm
looking forward to their upcoming additions.

At my job, we are running single instance installs on our boxes, so I
haven't had to deal with the single instance stuff, But SeeFusion's
price is still quite a bit cheaper than Fusion-Reactor, and they do
offer a bulk discount. The enterprise version of SeeFusion is
absolutely worth it if you are serious about monitoring your CF boxes.
It isn't that expensive and you will want the features is offers.

As far as the past page load and queries, SeeFusion's main goal is to
pinpoint performance problems, so I wouldn't necessarily want to know
everything that ran on the page-- just the slowest stuff. They only
show you the single slowest query in the interface, but that is where
the database logging comes into play. You can capture queries until
your heart is content with the DB logging based on a threshold time you
set.

Even with the awesome Flex stuff they have done, I really think the most
appreciated new part of this release will be the Active monitoring
rules. I can set it up to monitor the number of active requests,
average page and query times, and individual page and query times. Then
it will kill the request, log it to the database, or E-mail a
notification. They even included some cool stuff like a renotify delay,
and an initial delay before the rule is sent to avoid false alarms. I
just think that kicks butt.

The one database logging table I get the most use from though is the
counters table. It basically logs at a specified interval (every five
minutes for me) cfstat kind of info like number of active requests,
memory used, average page times etc. I have set up an excel spreadsheet
full of graphs which goes directly to the database and pulls out that
data for whatever time span and server I specify and I have instant
metrics in graph form of whatever server I want. Trending has never
been easier before for me.

At any rate, the least liked thing about SeeFusion is the data source
wrapper setup. Since you specify your own JDBC url, CF ADMIN screws it
up if you try to change a data source through the interface after adding
it. Technically I blame Macrodobie for writing a data source manager
which doesn't handle custom set ups too well in CF Admin. I'm pretty
certain Fusion-Reactor suffers from the same troubles since their JDBC
wrapper looks to operate the same as SeeFusion's.

Well, that's just my opinion, and I will readily admit I have researched
Fusion-Reactor, but never used it. I just really like SeeFusion, and
the support has been great too. I have E-mailed the crap out of these
guys with questions, and they have always gotten back to me right away.

One vote for SeeFusion!

My 2 cents :)

Good that you've finally decided to price it out more competitively, as
before I was strongly leaning toward FusionReactor, which is licensed
per
server, not per instance.

One thing that I like better about FusionReactor is that they allow you
to
view past requests, and go and see exactly what sql queries ran, and how
long each took. With Seefusion you only get 1 query.

I'm still trying to decide whether we should go with SeeFusion or
FusionReactor. Does anyone have any feedback one way or another? Also
do
the benefits of using the enterprise version of either outweigh the
costs?
We'll have 2-3 servers, with 2 of the servers running 2-3 instances of
CF
each.
