Hi, all. This is OT, but I really need some help figuring out why one of my clients cannot view their websites from their office.
Everyone else in the world seems to be able to, but they can't. That's a big problem, because one of their "sites" is actually an office app that I host and if they can't access it, they can't input data, maintain contact history, get reports, etc. I don't want to clog up the list with the DNS stuff, so I was wondering if there is someone who uses GoDaddy.com as their registrar and runs their DNS by using their DNS manager. Or perhaps someone just knowledgeable about setting up DNS could have a look at some screen shots off list and provide some guidance. Things have been going well until last week when I lost my mail server and, in trying to get it running properly, worked on my DNS. I tried to solve any outstanding issues pointed out by DNSReport.com. I solved every issue that was raised by their automated check, but since that time, my client has had problems. I did notice on their analysis report that my reverse DNS points back to mail.whitestonemedia.com. That doesn't seem right. It should be whitestonemedia.com, right? I'm afraid I've somehow gotten my mail server records crossed with my A records (or CNAME records) and perhaps that's the problem. But like I said, everyone else, including you guys, were able to access the sites, but when I took my laptop over to their office today, I couldn't access my server at all. None of the sites on it, and couldn't even ping the IP successfully. I would appreciate it if anyone could offer some suggestions or perhaps take a look at my DNS setup on GoDaddy and offer some advice. Someone with suitable knowledge of DNS could probably spot the problem(s) right off.
