I would be pissed if I answered the wrong question when asked do I want to
delete all contents or just the project....

Look into the tools subversion, and subversive. Subversion has got to be the
best I have ever seen. and subversive is a plugin that allows for you to
connect to subversion and provide the ability to switch branches at any
time.
