Yes, I have done this before. You want to go into IIS and change the file that the 404 errors are pointing to.
In IIS: Right click on the website you want and go to properties. The go to the Custom Errors Tab. Scroll down in the errors and you want to change 404, 404;2 and 404;3. Select one and click the edit button. Next change the Message type to URL and in the URL textbox you want to put a relative URL to the site, like this "/404Handler.cfm" with no quotes. Make this change for all 3 and you are good to go.
