I guess I am "old school" but I have car payments, a mortgage, etc. etc. All of this open source/freeware stuff leaves me a little mystified.
I suppose that it is possible to make some money around the "edges" of these technologies, but, I have this vision of an army of "geeks" working on these open source projects while they live in the garage of their parents house ...
