In my personal experience, Gmail for Domains is perfectly fine for sending/receiving small bits of mail here and there. However, with a mailing list of only about 300, it fails miserably. Very few go through, and it is quite arbitrary as to which ones go and which ones don't.
That said, it is my understanding that if you are using the paid version, then you're okay. But you can definitely count on the free service *not* meeting your needs.
