  The registry (at least in Windows) is not designed as a relational 
database, nor optimized for consistent reading and writing of data.  There 
are also size limits to it, and if it gets too big, everything starts 
having problems.

  If you are talking about a development machine with one user, you might 
be okay for the registry (although even there I don't recommend it).
