Hi Zac,

No, FuseBox is not used by the majority of developers, but it is undoubtedly
used by more CF developers than is any other CF coding standard.

Is it the best? Maybe, maybe not. That debate continues to rage. To me,
it is an unimportant debate. FuseBox is undoubtedly good enough (powerful,
simple, coherent). It is also, as far as I can see, the only coherent
architecture currently doing the rounds in ColdFusion development.

So, to summarise, I ask myself two questions:
1) Is FuseBox good enough (ie, is it sufficiently powerful, simple,
standardised)? Yes.
2) Is it the most popular standard available? Yes.
3) Do I need to look further? No.

These points can certainly be debated. They often are. But there is the
reasoning that I have used. It allows me to get on with building
applications now, with the security that comes from being part of an active
community. If I sat around worrying about whether or not I was using an
optimal architecture, then I'd be wasting my clients' time and money.

My intention is to remove "FuseBox vs Architecture X" from the realm of
religious debate. It's a purely pragmatic decision. Show me a coherent
architecture that is used by more CF developers, and I'll jump ship today
;-)

Remember Rule 7 ;-)

Does it? Is fusebox used by a majority of developers? I know one developer
who uses it. I won't argue with its popularity but simply because its
popular doesn't mean that its the best nor does it mean that it should be
used simply because its popular.

That's the sort of thinking that got us all using Windows.

Define a methodology? I use a framework for my own projects, use a similar
way of organizing projects and code in a similar way from project to
project. I would assume that this is, at its most basic, what fusebox is.

And why not build a new one? Or a small scale methodology suited to the
task at hand.

If nothing else it might serve as a useful intellectual exercise.
