Hey Chad,

Interesting little topic. Welp having delt with lawyers before and
listening in on our kick ass CFUG group, they had an IP lawyer come in and
talk to us about exactly that.

First and foremost Steve is correct. If you have a contract in place with
the company it completely depends on what is stipulated in the contracted.
However, most contractors whom get a majority of their income from one
location ACTUALLY is an employee of that company. This is a little loop
hole people forget to tell you. The only way out of this is if you have a
PTY LTD company and you contract to them. But thats a whole other ball of
yarn which I wont go into right now.

Secondly, when I spoke to a laywer about this, there is a condition called
moral rights. In other terms I write some kick ass code for the CFUG
group, I have MORAL rights to how I see the code is used. If I don't like
the way the company is using the code then I can take legal action.

Take it from someone whom has dealt with Laywers and fun stuff, BEFORE
your "FRIEND" does anything speak to a IP laywer first.

Also if you take the concept or code and put into another language its all
yours baby...i.e. put it into FLEX.

Happy hunting.
