How does Virtual PC run on the new PowerBooks. Grant Straker (shado mx) had one in the
office last week and he's got CFMX running on the OSX nicely, plus he uses Virtual PC
for older version websites that only run on PC. He said that windows XP runs just as
good if not better under the Powerbook via Virtual PC, then normally? to me this is a
godsend, as i love the funky features of OSX but like others can't quite let go of my
PC landwares.

If i were to own a Powerbook and it worked like all have said, then i truly would
become a "metrosexual soho cfmx developer!"

Of course if you buy the powerbook, well that Mustang has to go, and replaced with
some small german car (pref a VW Bug) and you'll need to listen to techno now, so no
more of <insert your music taste here>.

Subject: Re: [CFCDev] OT: The Sony Vaio or the 17in Mac Power book?

I develop everyday on my 17" PowerBook. Both ColdFusion and BlueDragon
are supported for development on a Mac, so that certainly isn't a
problem. Databases are a tricker issue as the major commercial players
don't support the Mac. However, there are plenty of very good open
source databases that do work on the Mac. As it turns out, I am
currently doing some SQL Server work, so I am actually running Virtual
PC and have it installed there. While interacting with the Windows GUI
is sluggish, I don't really notice any difference in regard to the DB.

Now all that aside, the PowerBook is the best built, most beautiful
laptop available today. I have plenty of PC laptops and that appear to
be pieces of junk in comparison. Granted, they didn't seem that way
before using a PowerBook everyday, but now it seems obvious. Firewire
is worth mentioning too. I backed up 10+ gigs of data the other day to
my iPod in a very short period of time. It would have actually taken
longer to use Ethernet. Of course, that is about to change as I just
ordered a gigabit switch and my PowerBook's support for it is very nice
to have.
