I don't think it is too big. I think the desired result is fine, but the technique is wrong. As I see it, we should create the book in DocBook format. Once the completed book is in DocBook format, it is a simple matter of running a script to generate PDF and HTML versions of the same. The PDF version could be downloaded and/or sent to CafePress for printing. The HTML version could be made available online for quick browsing.
BTW, He3 is now using DocBook for our documentation and help system. This means that anything in DocBook format can be made available through the He3 help system.
