well if the cfc is in the current directory as the calling template you just need the cfc name. As I understand it, CF will look for your cfc in the following order:

In the past I've used more strongly typed languages. So typing does make sense to me. On the one hand I like the security of type checking, but I think requiring full paths makes the code less portable.
