As a downstream vendor I can tell you we work around things all the time without bothering to try to fix things upstream (I try to encourage more engagement, but I can't control what people actually do, and upstreaming doesn't always work out). We build these libraries with the arch suffix, even though we have only one target, because we don't want to change the names of libraries when we don't have to.
