Two points that I forgot to add yesterday:

1. I'd describe current Chandler Hub interop with iCal 4.x as at least as
good as interop with iCal 3.x.

2. At a glance, at least some of the interop issues that existed with 3.x
remain with 4.x, but they shouldn't be show-stoppers. Things like:

 * if you drag a to do from the sidebar of iCal to the calendar, you'll get
an offspring of the item (not comparable to Chandler-style conversion, of a
single note, to an event) (duplication is probably not the best word, but it
sometimes feels like it)

 * with that offspring or its parent (I can't recall which), sync issues may
occur, silently; with no warning from iCal.

whilst testing I found the behaviours familiar, but I didn't go digging. If
you find yourself bugged by this type of thing — conversion of notes to/from
events or vice versa, with or without offspring arising from drags around
iCal — go digging in Bugzilla, you should find something matching, or very
close to your experience.
