Having snooped around a little bit with your link as a starting point, I
have found the statement, "Triangulation is the best-known method of curved
surface discretization." The statement's authors [Milena Stavric, Albert
Wiltsche, Christian Freissling] mention Delaunay triangulation. Searching
on "site:rosettacode.org Delaunay triangulation" produced 3 interesting
links, the last one listed below refers to you, rdm, and provides a link to
an interesting introduction to J, circa 2004.
