As I said before, sun java is available in ubuntu Synaptic - no need for
this complicated installation. This is true for Gutsy, and I think also
for Feisty.

Also - did you read the wiki installation instructions? As far as I can
see, these cover the problems you have encountered (and if they don't, I
hope you will update them once you are done).
