I also had mixed luck with USB connected wifi and Linux.  I had the best luck 
when I was able to download specific support for Linux from the wifi 
manufacturer.

I had difficulties with AVG and 64 bit Windows 7 (RC).  I tried using Comodo 
with combined AV and firewall.  It seems to work fine.
