I used an Air hack saw. The air saw works a very high speed and I cut slits
every 1 1/2 " on the lip then used a very heavy rubber mallet with a sand
bag on the outside and tapped the slits up till they where flush . The best
way to do this I found was to use a full lexan face shield and lay on your
back with the wheel remove and the car on jack stands. I did mark the wells
first by dropping a string down the side of the wheel well on to the tire,
you don't need to trim all the way around the well. Use a lot of light to
see the cut because the air saw works fast.

Subject: [Chevelle-List] Rear Fender Well Job

 Hi All,
I'm new to this list but have owned my `65 Malibu for 30 + years.
I've always liked the American mags and have a set for the car. The
fronts are installed with 195x60s but the rears are offset a bit for wide
50s. My question is: Should I cut open the rear fender wells like a `66
(I like the rear wheel wells of the `66 Chevelle) or just work in the tires
without cutting the car? Play with wheel offsets and tire sizes that fit?
Anybody know of any howtoos for fender well modifications?
What Ya think?
-Chuck
