The key to early chevelles is to make sure you have the correct early rear and back spacing.
I have AR TT 2's on my 65 Elcamino woth 225/70/15 and with there 3 3/4 standard back spacing the will rub in high G turn ie. body roll.
Where as My 64 rag with Creager SS 15/7 4 1/4 back spacing The 225/15/70 has LOT's of extra room.
the problem is the  small wheel house width on the 64/67 bodies.

I too own a 65. Before I cut the wheel wells I would narrow the rearend. I do believe form an article I read that you can take 1 inch off both sides (2 INCHES OVERALL) and still retain the stock shock mounts. let me look for the article.
