Not sure about TX but in PA you also can't have two coverages, The insurance gurus have a name for that I am sure, but  I am sure I could not spell it anyway,
In Pa when you new policy takes effect , you will get a refund from you old carrier for the double funded day. but you must notify them.

 A while back I switched insurance companies and was informed that it was illegal to have two policies running at the same time. I dont know if that is only an Ohio law, but you may want to check that out. Take it easy,
