The pros use a tool that is essentially a piece of wire with a loop at each end. You feed it through it one spot (I guess anywhere you can) and then pull back & forth on the loops as you work it around the perimeter. I've also had very good luck with simply using a box cutter and cutting the seal away all the way around, and pushing gently until it begins to come out. The main thing w/ this method is to spread out the force (use both hands) and don't push too hard. If it doesn't want to go, don’t force it.
