I had a 72 Camaro as well and I know I put a HURST labeled T handle on the shifter. I would think I did that because it was a HURST shifter as well. I am thinking it had a round shaft with a flat spot with HURST label engraved on it.

I don't know which model it was though and although I was the second owner I am quite certain it was the factory shifter.

What's the difference with the competition plus? Which model do you think the factory used?

No no no Steve, Dale did say some GM's came with Hurst. Which I agree. Many GM's used hurst just not the comp plus. If memory serves me right I do believe my buds 70 1/2 Camaro had a round Hurst shifter.
