Brad, 

The tool I finally broke down and bought ran me $14.99
at Auto Zone.  About 5 turns and the thing came flying
off..  Wish I'd just gone and got the tool first thing
this AM, rather than play around for 3 hrs under the
car looking like a contortionist.
