I'd say you have a good idea what you need to do at this point. The black
primed new fenders should accept your primer as is. Expect to spend some
time on the fiberglass hood. It is real difficult to get one to look as good
as metal, plus over time you will see shrinkage in the fiberglass and primer
that will expose any little flaw that is under that shiny surface. Can't be
helped. My perfect (three years ago) 65 El Camino is starting to show all of
the above. Only thing I can do is a little rework to cover up the ever
growing number of flaws that are coming out with time. Perfection is the
benchmark that always seems just out of reach, but it is still a worthy
goal.
