The glue I used was also 3m in a spray can. I used an old plastic container that I had laying around and sprayed the adhesive into it. I then applied it to the parts I wanted to glue on the headliner and sail panels with a throwaway glue brush . I bought my sail panels with fabric installed when I purchased the headliner. All in all, things came out pretty well on the install for being a first timer. Takes time and patience Don't forget to go to office supply store and buy a couple dozen folder clips of various sizes. It really helps. Will come in handy for just a sail panel install also. One more thing the glue from the spray can sets fast, so be ready. Don't know if the same stuff is available in a can, but spray cans are what I found in the auto parts stores here in Central Illinois. Hope this helps. Ted

I "think" that I bought it at either a parts store or specialized upholstery shop - its been years. To wrap the material and secure it properly you need to cut "darts" in it on the back side. Lay the material flat (face down) , lay the panel on top and pull the material tight.....but not banjo string tight. (The headliner material does tighten up over time ). I trimmed it on the back side to have about a 1 inch border. Ask your wife or mother or girlfriend about the darts. Its a sewing thing and the ladies -of my generation anyway- will be familiar with what you need to do. Again, its very important that the glued down material lies flat. Don't overdo the glue, its sticky and if you get it on the front side of the panel it won't come off. Not hard, just take your time. The material is over sized and needs to be folded over the backing panel and glued to form the finished edge that meets the headliner. has anyone done this? what glue should I use? And how much trimming is needed in order for the material to wrap tightly around the backing panel. Thank you all for sharing your wisdom. Bob -- Rick Schaefer 72 TPI El Camino
