Dear Rahul,

Abiding by the law is not the responsibility of state alone. It is for the
people too to obey it and if its people turn enemies of the country and kill
the innocent masses then whatever done against such monsters is justified
notwithstanding the hue and cry made by the human rights group.

Dear Manju

The state routinely violates the rule of law in suppressing many non-violent
movements. It also violates the constitution by not providing social and
economic justice to a vast majority of the population of India and as a result
we are near the bottom of the world with regard to such important development
indicators as nutrition, education and health. The rich and powerful too violate
the law routinely and get away with it quite easily and the Bhopal gas disaster
and its aftermath are a telling testimony to this. All this leads to the state
losing its legitimacy to rule in the eyes of the deprived and consequently there
is violent revolt of one form of another against the state. This is all simple
logic that somehow does not seem to penetrate into the minds of those who are
leading comfortable lives. I fail to understand how the Maoist perfidies agitate
people more than the perfidies of the state which are daily killing many more
people. The state needs to be more law abiding if it is to overcome
insurgencies. A much more powerful state, the USA, has failed to quell the
unrest in Iraq and Afghanistan precisely because it has lost its legitimacy in
the eyes of those who are fighting against it.
What is of greater concern for people fighting for justice is that if the state
is not constantly brought to book for its illegalities then its minions and
especially the police and armed forces will kill people with impunity. The
Maoists no doubt are ruthless murderers but much more so are the minions of the
Indian state.

Dear all,

The two day visit of Home secretary Mr.Pillai to Chhattisgarh seem to have smoothened the functioning of the police/CRPF in the naxal operations.Mr.Pillai himself says it will take upto seven years to get rid of the naxal menace. 7 years is a long period of time and no one knows in the meantime how many more policemen and innocent tribals will be removed from the face of the earth.Govt plans to invest 13742 crores in the affected area for development etc. But the basic question remains-will this help to solve the problem as they are not dealing with the core issues, which is the economic policy where the entire area of the forest is being given for mining purposes to corporates ?

Development is fine but what about the lakhs of refugees who have lost everything and gone to nearby states? What about the supreme court order of rehabilitation of the tribals on which the C.G keeps mum? What about those more than 700 villages from where Adivasis are chased away and the houses and property destroyed?

13742 croress is nothing compared to the crores that has been already eaten up in the name of development in naxal areas. Is Mr.Pillai aware of the real issues or is he only concerned about the reports submitted by the states which is their version perhaps. From the daily paper reports I get the impression that unless the core issues are touched the problem will not find an answer.

As I understand the core issue is the economic policy of the government which makes the poor poorer and amassing of wealth in the hands of the corporates and few other industrialists, politicians etc.
60 years of developement has not changed the lot of the poor. They still have to be provided with Rs.2.kg rice and subsidy for every other thing.Dependency on the government and keep them as vote banks for the parties.Their lands are taken away they are forced to live on road sides, juggi jhopadis and at the mercy of something or the other being doled out.The wealth of the country is becoming the property of a few while others are denied the right to exist and live a decent life.

Mr.G K.Pillai  says that it will take 7 years to get rid of Naxals. Mahendra Karma who started Salwa Judum in 2005 stated Naxals will be removed from the soil of Bastar within one year. Ram Vichar Netam and now Nankiram Kanwar also says that they will soon finish naxal problem from Chhattisgarh. It makes me laugh at him when he says "Aar Par ki ladai ka waqt aa gaya hai"

CM is also not behind who has a ready made stereo type statement after each major tragedy in which security people are killed. As per a report, Army has stated that it will take minimum ten years for them to get the naxal problem solved.

About investing Rs. 13742 crores in the affected area for development, question is how much will actually reach the people for whom it is meant? I will not be surprised if most of those money will also be eaten away by the corrupt people, who are playing games to keep naxal problem alive and seek more and more funds to be pocketed by them.

Pillai does not know what he is talking about. There are so many oppressions in
this country that as VS Naipaul noted there are a million mutinies. We will
not see the end of insurgencies for a long time. And if women decide to revolt
en masse then there will be never ending action.
